Within Reason: Refreshing Outlook On Touring

Witin Reason

" It's fun to go and play big crowds where we don't know anybody. It's refreshing because we get to play songs we have been playing for years but it is exciting and new to these crowds."

Q. How did you come up with your name?

A. Well there's a couple of different stories behind how we actually came up with it, but the most recent one is we were in a casino and a guy at the table was extremely drunk and and he was asking the big boss if he wanted to order an escort for him and he asked her any particular girl and he said I'll have her do anything as long as it's within reason and we heard that and said that would be a great name. So that's the story that we're telling at this point.

Q. How did you guys come together as a group?

A. Me and Chris the lead singer met five years ago through mutual friends and talked about getting together, played phone tag for about a year, me and the guitar player were good friends and he know another guy and we just met up. Then Adam came in. I joined the group in 2006, me and Chris were college roommates and I was in another band at the time, but I had left that band and he asked me to join this band and we had a couple different guitar players until Carlos joined us and he's been with us since January so for a couple months so he's still pretty green with us.

Q. What was the experience like being on a big show
like One Tree Hill?

A. It was really weird because when we got on the show, nobody had ever heard of the band. We thought it was a cool opportunity to do, we all got the opportunity to get some exposure in South Carolina. So we got up there and Sophia Bush walked in and were just like wow. When we got home and the show came out we didn't realize how fanatical everybody was. Looking back if we got to do it again it would be a whole different experience because we walked in not knowing anything about the show and hadn't two million people heard the song when they watched that episode.

Q. Tell us what the experience was like working
on a video game.

A. That was pretty cool, basically the way it worked was they had the game and during the testing period they call us up and asked if we wanted to be a part of it and we signed the license agreement and sent it off.

Q. How has life on the road been?

A. Awesome! It's fun to go and play big crowds where we don't know anybody. It's refreshing because we get to play songs we have been playing for years but it is exciting and new to these crowds. They want to know where can they get the cd and hear more of our music. All around the road's been what we have expected it to be and we love it.
