Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great man. It
took courage, strength faith, and persistence to handle the issues
of discrimination, racism, and violence with a non-violent campaign.
I'm sure at times it was almost impossible, but he stood for something
and that's really what makes all the difference. See when you can
stand for something you believe in it doesn't matter what anyone
else tries to bring up against you. You have to dig down and stand
strong fighting for what you believe in. Indeed he stood for something,
matter of fact he stood for so many things. Our staff took some
time to voice their opinions on some of the many great things Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for.
(GreenKnight) He stood for future change. All of the things that
we are allowed to do today are because of him. He is a symbol of
peace, change and intelligence for all. He taught us that all races
must learn to work together for America to thrive. Dr. King had
a dream and he shared it with us all. His dream is still going today,
and we all need to do all we can to keep it that way. He stood for
and did so many great things to write about, 10 articles wouldn't
be enough. I know all the great things he did, however it seem as
though they are being forgotten and taken for granted. Dr. Martin
Luther King means I can go to any store, any school, or any restaurant
and be treated as an equal. Many new opportunities working, for
friendships, and the opportunity for all to accomplish great things,
he is responsible for. I think we all should stop and take time
to reflect on all the things he accomplished. He envisioned today's
world over 40 years ago, and made it his life's work to make it
a reality then. Many may not want to believe that his efforts have
made any changes today, but I'm beginning to see all of his dreams
come true.
(Jewel) He stood for greatness. He was a fascinating individual
that accomplished many worthy appreciated things. He graduated in
1948 from Morehouse College. He organized the Bus Boycott that took
place in Montgomery, AL. He wrote the book, Stride Toward Freedom.
In 1964, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was a civil rights activist
for the Deep South. I could go on and on about his accomplishments.
I salute you Dr. King, thank you for all the ground work you did
to make this world a better place, especially in Montgomery, Alabama.
(QUEAZY) He stood for the underdog, giving support to those that
needed it most. It was his passion to have all men and women treated
equally. He fought for our justices, a fight we have to continue
still to this day. But, we would not be as far with that battle
without his contributions. In all honesty, a non-violent campaign
against opponents that followed no rules seems almost impossible.
But, he succeeded with it. The ability to lead was just incredible.
How can you lead so many into an almost definite losing situation
and emerge triumphant from the battle. I look deep within myself
at times to motivate that leadership, that courage, that passion,
that patience, and that great wisdom it takes to keep on pushing
even when the odds are against you. We all can take a page out of
that book!
Well it seems our staff is very thankful for Dr. King and his efforts
and many contributions in the South and all over the world. QUEAZY,
Jewel, and GreenKnight made some very good points, and overall there
was one holistic theme to it all Dr. King stood for his dream. Let's
make sure it continues to come true, we can all make a difference.
